Where Mid-Century Meets Modern: A Classic Bathroom Renovation
From Leaks to Luxe
We recently had the privilege of working on a bathroom renovation project for one of our clients in Harrisonburg. They had a bathroom they loved in terms of its existing space, color scheme, and layout. However, the wear and tear over the years had taken its toll, leaving them with leaky areas that needed immediate attention. As their children grew, so did their need for a taller vanity and a fully updated bathroom they’d feel confident about sharing with their guests.
Taking It Down to the Studs
To provide our clients with a fresh start, we began by completely gutting the bathroom. This allowed us to create a solid framework from which to work our magic. Our clients loved the idea of having separate sides of the vanity for their children, with three drawers each, a feature that was lacking in the old setup. Given the age of the house, we opted for a cost-effective tile with a terrazzo look that could elegantly envelope both the shower and the bathroom walls, pairing beautifully with the new, crisp, clean white vanity.
Designing for Timelessness
From bare studs to a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing space, our client’s bathroom now serves as a haven for their children. We were able to find fixtures and elements that seamlessly blended with the house's age while incorporating modern features, including recessed lighting that floods the room with plenty of light. And the addition of glass shower doors allows our clients to showcase the stunning new tile.
Modern Renovation With a Vintage Vibe
A charming nod to the house's history is the midcentury vent cover, a reminder of its original character that still adds charm to the space. No longer plagued by pesky water leaks, our clients now revel in the joy of a beautiful, functional bathroom. It's a space they are excited to show off to their guests and that they’re excited to see as they walk up their staircase every day.
